Frequently asked questions

What do I get for my money?

A unique brick number that is permanently yours, your chosen name on that brick in the wall (if you choose to show it), and a confirmation email with your number and a link to your brick. A brick is a symbolic digital collectible.

Can I resell or transfer my brick?

Not yet. A marketplace for passing bricks on may open later, but only once its rules, fees and legal review are final. Until then, bricks cannot be resold. You can give a brick to someone for free from My Bricks; it counts towards their limit of 5. We make no promise that a brick can be resold or that it will be worth more in the future.

Is a brick an investment?

No. A brick does not give ownership, equity, shares, voting rights or any financial return, and it is not expected to increase in value. Please only buy a brick because you want to be part of the project.

How many bricks can I buy?

Up to 5 bricks per customer, in total, across all your orders. Bricks you receive as a gift count too. You need a customer account to buy. If several accounts belong to the same person (for example, they pay with the same card), they share one limit of 5. An order that goes over the limit receives no bricks and is cancelled and refunded in full.

Will my name be public?

Only if you tick “Show my name on the wall” when you buy. Otherwise your brick appears as a private brick. Names are checked for links and offensive words; names that need review are hidden until approved. We never show your email or order details.

What happens when all 1,000,000 bricks are sold?

[TO DEFINE BEFORE LAUNCH] The wall comes down on the website and the project behind it is announced. Describe here, honestly, what the project will be and what — if anything — brick owners will receive.

What if the wall never reaches 1,000,000?

[TO DEFINE BEFORE LAUNCH] State clearly what happens, for example: how long the wall stays online, and whether there is a deadline.

Can I get a refund?

[TO DEFINE BEFORE LAUNCH] State your refund policy and how many days buyers have. If a brick is refunded or the order is cancelled, the brick is removed from you and its number is retired: it is not sold again. A refund does not increase how many bricks you can buy.

How do I keep my brick number safe?

Keep your confirmation email. Your brick number and your order number are both in it. You can look up your brick at any time on the Find your brick page using only the number.

How is my data protected?

Payment is handled entirely by Shopify's secure checkout. The brick database stores your brick number, display name, country and date. To enforce the limit of 5 bricks per customer it also stores your Shopify customer number and one-way codes (salted hashes) of your email address, phone number, billing address and the brand, first 6 and last 4 digits and expiry of the card you paid with. These codes cannot be turned back into your details; they only let us recognise the same buyer across accounts. We never see or store your full card number.

How do I see all my bricks?

Log in with the email you used at checkout and open My Bricks. You can also look up any brick by its number on the Find your brick page.
